Careers in the gaming industry will likely be a dream job for many gaming enthusiasts, and thanks to the Entertainment Industry Entertainment Act of Georgia, who moved to Atlanta, GA may be a great career move for these individuals. The legislation, which was first passed in 2004, gives game design firms to move to Georgia by offering a 20% tax credit to companies that choose to move. In recent years, Georgia has become one of the best game design locations in the country, and with more than 100 companies now standing in the city of Atlanta, there is a renewed demand for workers trained in game design, programming and video games. Game testing When the prospects / career opportunities in programming begin to increase, industry officials approach Gwinnett Technical College to help them find more workers who have game programming skills.
There are already programs focusing on game design offered at the Savannah College of Art and Design as well as at the Art Institute of Atlanta, but there are not enough game programmers to create a sufficient and steady supply of work for game designers. As a result, Gwinnett Technical College launched a two-year association simulation / game development program. Parents may feel uncomfortable with the prospect of their children pursuing a career in the game, but a Gwinnett spokeswoman quickly convinced parents that game programming skills are not just used for the entertainment industry.

There are a variety of other practical applications for this skill. For example, the military employs game programmers to create simulators that train personnel in battlefield tactics, simulate tank movers, and even simulate virtual weapons. The medical industry uses a game program to simulate clinical scenarios for medical staff, and also to simulate pharmaceutical experiments before initial testing actually begins. Logistics companies also take advantage of such programs to track drivers, and inform them of potential dangers to their routes. Gwinnett, however, warned that students should be excited about game programming. The course will require superior math skills, and students need to focus diligently in their work in order to get their heads around the logic of game programming.
Students will find out very quickly if game programming is right for them. John Thacher, director of the Gwinett Computer Science program, claims that most of the game programming students are very excited and curious about games. Thacher said, “In another class, I’ll see the students behind the room playing tic-tac-toe or texting, but our students are glued to their screens.” This course offers students a very intense learning experience that will prepare them for a career in game development. As the industry continues to grow, many Georgia companies hire game designers and new game design staff. While not every graduate student will get a glamorous job working for video game production companies, there are many opportunities available in the industry that can help start new graduates into successful career paths.
